A positive brush with the criminal justice system.

Tue Oct 20, 2009, 11:21 AM
Well, I went in for jury duty today. Spent a couple hours waiting to be sorted, got moved off with seventeen other potential jurors, was interviewed by the prosecution and defense. The trial was a criminal case - the defendant was charged with theft, prosecution had three witnesses and there were none for the defense. Two lawyers with each side, presumably the junior lawyers were the ones to interview us. I went, I saw, and I was ultimately rejected for jury service - I suspect it's due to one of the defense attorneys looking young enough to have gone to college with me, but I'm not sure. At any rate, it was over by around 11AM.

I got to grab a slice of pizza afterwards and I'm expecting a $15 check, so not a total loss.

Dood. Jury duty sucks. I've been called twice in my life (once in Mass. and once in Virginia), and just sat around for two hours each time without getting selected. Pizza and a check don't hurt, though.

Thanks for all the faves, my brother!

It wasn't that bad. I had a book to help with the sitting around, and it was a nice look at the justice system.

And glad to keep on giving them!
